The assignment was to design a jewelry for the 21st century. The diamond, being the most desired gemstone in the world, is problematic as the mining process is surrounded by conflicts, human despair and environmental impacts. I therefore wanted to make a new version of a diamond ring which could show respect both to humanity and to our environment.
[Diamonds are for everyone] – is a ring made with 3D printing technology out of the biodegradable material polylactide (PLA). The shape is a wire frame structure of a diamond.
In this project I got to practice my skills in the software Catia V5, construction and rendering, as well as 3D printing techniques and materials.
